[Trailer] – The Three Stooges

21 Mar

You know how everytime you wateched a movie by the Farrelly brothers, Bobby and Peter, and it sucked, you went “But they still made There’s Something About Mary“? Well, since it’s been more than a dozen years since that comedy classic, I think it’s time to stop using that as an excuse; because it’s been pretty much just as long since the brothers have made a decent film. And no, saying that the Farrelly’s clearly have passion for this project and they’ve wanted to make it for years is no excuse either.

Because it really does seem as though that streak of bad films will go on, as the new trailer for their reboot of The Three Stooges really reinforces the notion that this may just be one of the worst films of the year. The new trailer, which you can watch above, opens with a warning similar to that of the Jackass TV show and films, though this time the skulls are styled as the Curly, Larry and Moe, and the words “Before Jackass, there was dumbass” appear on screen. And that’s not even the worst part of the trailer.

We then get an onslaught of slapstick comedy; the eye-popping and face-slapping we all know from our childhoods. But there’s something that just worries me so much when I see it done by these new guys, it just looks really horrible, and I hate it that Hollywood’s messed with such beloved property. The trailer actually offers up not a single plot line, which is just as well because the one the film does have sounds horrible and I won’t even go on ahead and write it here.

It stars Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso as the three knuckleheads, and counts with supporting performances by the likes of Sofia Vergara, Jane Lynch, Kate Upton, Larry David, Jennifer Hudson and a bunch of the Jersey Shore guys (seriously). Find out of this happens to be a weird stroke of mad genius or if it’ll be as horrible a film as its trailers are indicating when it opens on April 13.

Was so confused by this project. Remember when there was going to be a biopic with Sean Penn, Jim Carrey, & Benicio Del Toro? What the hell happened? We really didn’t need this.

Yes! Apparently those three were smart enough to know that they didn’t need this, either. Johnny Knoxville I think was once also rumored for a part. Even him would have been an improvement over this. Really does look horrible.
