[Trailer] – House At The End Of The Street

Jennifer Lawrence got an Oscar nomination for the impeccable Winter’s Bone, where she proved her chops as an actress in a tremendous indie production. She also, as you may have heard, headlined The Hunger Games, which just scored the third highest-grossing opening weekend of all-time. In between projects, though, she shot House at the End of the Street, which just got a trailer which you can watch above.

Rogue Pictures made the film and they’re releasing the trailer now to capitalize on all the attention Ms. Lawrence’s been getting. Not to mention that they’re lucky they got her when they did, because not only would getting Ms. Lawrence now be a significantly more expensive matter, and pretty much impossible for a low-budget horror film like this one, but her name will definitely help them recoup their budget, and then some.

As for the film itself, it’s the usual thriller we’ve gotten so many times before, in which we get a gorgeous girl screaming about for an hour and a half running from some stupid killer, or something. Ms. Lawrence plays the girl who moves into a new house with her mom, right next to one where some gruesome murders took place; and the trailer plays the events in reverse. And look, I do believe Ms. Lawrence is destined for great things, and she’s a fantastic actress, but this one will likely be the one mediocre thriller every hot up-and-coming actress does.

Directed by Mark Tonderai; written by David Loucka, based on a story by Jonathan Mostow; starring Ms. Lawrence, Elisabeth Shue and Max Thieriot. House at the End of the Street opens September 21.
