[Trailer] – Beasts Of The Southern Wild

2 May

At this year’s Sundance Film Festival the film that came out with the most rapturous raves was Benh Zeitlin‘s directorial debut, Beasts of the Southern Wild. And the first trailer for that film is now out, and you can watch it after the cut.

I was really excited for this film before, just from reading what people had to say about it having seen it at Sundance. But now that we have a trailer to marvel at, I think it’s safe to say that this is one of my most highly anticipated films of the year.

The magical realist fable centers on a six-year-old girl named Hushpuppy, played by Quvenzhane Wallis, a little girl who has to deal with quite a lot at such a young age. Just watch this trailer, it’s pure magic.

Directed by Benh Zeitlin; written by Lucy Alibar and Benh Zeitlin; starring Quvenzhane Wallis, Dwight Henry and Levy Easterly. Beasts of the Southern Wild will screen later this month at the Cannes Film Festival, and opens in theaters June 27.
