[Trailer] – The Campaign

11 May

Jay Roach has directed some comedies in his life, all three Austin Powers films among them, but he’s also directed political films for HBO like Recount (for which he won an Emmy) and the upcoming Game Change. Well, in his latest film, The Campaign, he’s marrying both comedy and politics, and you can check out the first trailer for it after the cut.

If you thought the Republican primaries were something to laugh about just wait until you see the election process Mr. Roach focusses on here. The long-term North Carolina congressman played by Will Ferrell thinks he’s definitely securing another term, but then his newest rival, a naïve new guy played by Zach Galifianakis, gives him a run for his money. Yes, that’s right Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis against one another taking the piss out off politics. Even if this trailer doesn’t make this seem like a comedic gem, I think it’ll still be more than worth a watch.

Directed by Jay Roach; written by Chris Henchy and Shawn Harwell; starring Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis, Dylan McDermott, Jason Sudeikis, Brian Cox, John Lithgow and Dan Aykroyd. The Campaign opens August 10.
