[Trailer] – The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2

20 Jun

It’s under 80 seconds, but we now have our first official look at a trailer for the upcoming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, the concluding chapter to that vampire franchise that will leave the field wide open for Katniss to be the new ruler of tweens across the world.

I haven’t been a fan of the franchise necessarily, but I thought that until the third one, each new one was better than its predecessor, and I always appreciate film series that can improve upon themselves. Last year’s installment though, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, was a step below from the third film (though I still gave it a recommending B-), so hopefully this one will go back to trend of being better, especially considering it’s the closing chapter.

The thing that separates this film from the rest, of course, is the fact that there’s no longer the impossible love story at the center of it all. Bella is now a vampire, and she and Edward are married and have a daughter together. The thing is now they must fight to protect her against the evil Volturi, enlisting vampires and werewolves alike to help their cause.

The trailer is appropriately action-heavy, though I still don’t think it looks as epic as I think it should considering this is the last we’ll see of these characters. Still, look for this one to make a killing at the box office when it opens this November.

Directed by Bill Condon; written by Melissa Rosenberg, based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer; starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Burke, Sarah Clarke, Maggie Grace, Michael Sheen, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mackenzie Foy, Dakota Fanning, Lee Pace and Joe Anderson. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opens November 16.
