[Trailer] – Celeste and Jesse Forever

Rashida Jones, a big favorite of mine, co-writes and stars in Celeste and Jesse Forever, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The film now has a trailer, which you can watch below.

Like I said, I love Rashida Jones, and I actually read this screenplay a while back and I really liked it, so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this one translates on-screen.

The film focusses on two best friends from high school who fell in love and married young. Now grown-ups, she’s super successful and he’s not really heading anywhere, seeming still stuck in his high school days (which is why it should come as no surprise to see he’s being played by Andy Samberg). So she decides to go for a divorce now while they can remain friends instead of a bitter one later on. So it’s about how these two are trying to maintain their amazing friendship while seeing other people and going through a divorce. If the tone between the comedy and the drama is struck just right this could actually be quite good.

Directed by Lee Toland Krieger; written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack; starring Rashida Jones, Andy Samberg, Elijah Wood, Chris Messina, Emma Roberts and Ari Graynor. Celeste and Jesse Forever opens August 3.
