[Trailer] – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

19 Sep

This week is Tolkien Week, in which fans of J.R.R. Tolkien celebrate like crazy the birthdays of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. It’s also the one that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the publication of The Hobbit. So what better way to celebrate than with the premiere of a new trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which you can watch below.

This is the second trailer we’ve gotten for this hugely-anticipated film and the first since it was announced by director Peter Jackson that this would be another trilogy and not two installments like it was originally planned.

This trailer has much mroe humor and it feels as though the stakes are a bit smaller now that the overall story has been added an extra part to tell it, this seems like the introduction to this previous time in Middle Earth. But, whatever, because really the only thing that matters is just that: we’ll be back in Middle Earth. And the adventure still seems pretty epic.

Directed by Peter Jackson; written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro, based on the novel by J.R.R. Tolkien; starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Andy Serkis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Elijah Wood, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Orlando Bloom, Lee Pace, James Nesbitt and Bret McKenzie. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens December 14.
