[Trailer] – Promised Land

21 Sep

Promised Land was recently set to open on December 28th so that it can give it an Oscar qualifying run before expanding in early 2013, and with the pedigree we can see why. The first trailer for it is now out and you can watch it below.

You have the great Gus Van Sant directing from a screenplay from Matt Damon and John Krasinski based on a story conceived by Dave Eggers. Mr. Damon (who, obviously, also wrote and starred in Mr. Van Sant’s Good Will Hunting) and Mr. Krasinski also star in the film.

It’s basically about how big corporations want to take advantage of small towns to tap into their available resources and what it means both for the local people and for the salesmen who go there to make the deal. The kind of stuff that in many cases would probably be too preachy, but with people like these assembled behind it may just be a total winner.

Directed by Gus Van Sant; written by Matt Damon and John Krasinski, based on a story by Dave Eggers; starring Matt Damon, John Krasinski, Frances McDormand, Rosemarie DeWitt, Hal Holbrook and Titus Welliver. Promised Land opens December 28.
